Créations sans escale is a puppet theatre company that produces and presents puppet shows for audiences aged 7 and over.

Active in Quebec, the company stimulates imagination, emotion and reflection in both children and adults. It offers content that is accessible and conveys meaning, kindness and tolerance.

Touch people’s heart

Créations sans escale is a Longueuil-based non-profit social enterprise that gives stage time to every day and extraordinary moments.

Helping its audience springboard from everyday reality to an imaginary world, Créations sans escale reaches first for its audience’s heart through realism replete with magic. From that point on, everything is possible, including openness, change and wonder.

Travel in all its variations appears as a recurring theme in the pieces presented by Créations sans escale. How we live together is also one of our favorite subjects because it is often put to the test in our contemporary societies and deserves our attention.

« We create luminous projects that are both entertaining and stimulating. »

—Marie-Claude Daoust, Artistic Director

“Your puppets gave me courage. They are all so different. It’s as if they have a soul!”

—Nicole, subway user (Longueuil) working in a long-term care facility

A chameleon near you!

For Créations sans escale, art and puppets open a door to a world where each person, regardless of their age, can awaken their inner child. Stories and worlds that entertain, amaze and challenge are brought to life.

Choosing puppetry

Puppets shows require creating a complete world that will support an idea or an object. It takes time, energy and attention.

Striking the right balance between words, movement and the show’s visual landscape, is a challenge. Yet, the audience must be allowed to make connections between what is heard, what is shown on stage (movements) and what is silent.

Even if doing everything yourself is possible, nothing beats the satisfaction of working as a team and bringing out each individual’s strength.

Puppet design

In a search for beauty and balance of shapes, every puppet showcases its face’s pared-down features and expressions. To build a puppet is to create an object that can be express emotions and will come to life through the hands of the puppeteer. For the audience, this transforms the character into a canvas that amplifies meaning and gives them the ability to project themselves into the story’s plot and universe.

It gives everyone the necessary soul space to add a portion of their story to the narrative.

“It’s a powerful creative act. It’s like a breath that takes shape and comes to life!”
